Pete lives a life of birds, the images below show him and
one of his friends, he has others, some are even human.
Now residing in Lake Villa, Illinois Pete has a BFA from
the Art Institute of Chicago. He has won numerous awards for his work including Best
in World for an unprecedented three consecutive years at the Ward Museum of
Wildfowl Art's, World Championship Wildfowl Carving Competition in the miniature
decorative class.
Pete's work has been selected twice for exhibition in the
prestigious Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum's, Birds in Art Show. One of the pieces
was selected for the year long traveling exhibition and the other was purchased by one of
the founders.
In 1986 Pete began making highly detailed and perfectly
rendered lifelike birds, he now works in bronze with the same subjects and the same
lifelike results. Viewing his birds takes a bit of getting used to because one
constantly expects them to move or make a sound. This is almost understandable for
the ones carved in exquisite detail and painted in the bird's natural colors but it is
more difficult to understand in the bronze pieces. He somehow imbues them with the
same lifelike qualities.
His pieces have evolved from intricately painted ones such
as Blyth's Hornbill to naturally finished pieces in
cherry or walnut and now to the simplicity of classic bronze sculpture. To see them
is to covet them so be careful.
