Born in 1936 Jay became a chemical engineer and holds
several important patents for his creative work in that field. He built his company,
"Miniature Precision Components" from the ground up into a successful
multinational company.
Jay's naturally creative mind wasn't satisfied with this
form of expression, so he went on to study sculpture as a means of expressing his
creativity. Two years of studying sculpture at the University of Wisconsin and many
workshops and seminars have honed his technical skills to a high degree.
Jay has always been interested in the natural world. He
gained the knowledge of animal anatomy that he uses in his wildlife sculptures by spending
his time in the wilderness areas of North America and Africa.
As you will see in Jay's portfolio, he uses his
considerable skill to create life like portrayals of birds, mammals and human subjects in
their natural environments. He has masterful control over every phase of creation
from design on through the many technical stages involved in bronze casting.
